Narve Caves

Narve Caves are three early period caves located at Naroa in North Goa District. The caves are about 15 km south-west of Bicholim, near the Saptakoteshwar Temple.

These caves are simple and consist of a Garbh Griha and a Veranda with two pillars. Two of them have lingas, dating back to the early Chalukya Period. The top portion of the lingam is carved in the form of a sitting Lion, which is found on the Ashoka pillar. Words inscribed in Brahmi, a script of 6th century, can be found below the Lion.

Naroa is an ideal tourist destination with its caves, springs and historically important temples.
