Meghna Cave

 

 

 

 

Meghna Cave temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was carved out some 5000 years back but rediscovered only in 1962. Meghna Cave Temple is a famous tourist destination of Daporijo, West Kameng District. The temple is built in a cave and is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is worshipped here as Lord Lakulisha (which is the 28th incarnation of Lord Shiva).

 

 

 

The temple is located at a height of about 300 feet on a mountain. Steps have been built to reach the cave temple from here tourists can enjoy the breathtaking views of forests and mountains. It is a famous place of worship which draws large number of visitors and pilgrims especially during Makar Sankranti and Shivrati. Sanskrit scripture Kali Purna it is mentioned that this Meghna Cave Temple is dedicated to Lord Lakulisha who is the 28th incarnation of Lord Shiva in 28th Kaliuga of seventh Manvantara belonging to Varah Kalpa.
