Madanagopalaswamy Temple in Madurai is about 800 years old. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and one can see him here playing his flute. He is flanked by His consorts Rukmini and Sathyabhama. The idol of Lord Krishna, which is about five feet tall, is exquisitely beautiful.

The temple has a small ‘Brindavan’ within the premises and flowers such as butterfly pea and hibiscus are grown and gathered for daily offering to Lord Krishna.
