Koodal Azhagar Koil is a famous Hindu  temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in the center of the city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu.  The name Koodal Azhagar Koil  denotes  “The beautiful one” in Tamil. This temple is reputed to the older than the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple.  This temple exemplifies the sad state of neglect that has over taken the maintenance of temple all over Tamil Nadu. The temple had earmarked three acres on TPK Road for the ‘nandavanam or sacred garden; however, this has been overgrown with weeds.
