Lunching at the Lake:
Around 150 greater flamingos that are found in the Pallikaranai marshland since the end of March are shuttling between Pallikaranai and Perumbakkam wetlands. Last week, these winged migrants went back to Pallikaranai and only half a dozen were sighted in Perumbakkam, says K V R K Thirunaranan of the Nature Trust who is monitoring the birds at both locations. They prefer shallow waters from which they pick up small insects and other lifeforms, he said.
